Woven for the 1916 Rising Commemorations in Ireland this piece began with an image of the bullet hole markings left in the pillars of the GPO (General Post Office) Dublin. Sketching a figure around the image the hole transforms to the feeling nerve center of the solar plexus area. With the sense that our history can live on in unseen molecular structures within our system this weaving reflects a sense of responsibility and ownership to past actions.
It was a pleasure to weave a fine linen gifted to me many years ago in Drogheda by an elderly man who had spun this linen in a factory in Drogheda in the mid 1900s.
